Maxims for Teachers

“Maxims for Teachers” are statements that I invite teachers to think with. I don’t present them as universal truths, but as provocations. I hope that they help people to notice and maybe question their assumptions, to discover and reflect on their intentions, to embrace what matters most, and to recapture a sense of hope, fun, and creativity in their work.

I’ll post entries periodically on my website, and compile the complete list here.

1. Teaching is Imperfectible

2. The More You Talk about Grades, the More You Talk about Grades

3. Pedagogy is More Efficient than Rules
